Camtasia – Camtasia allows you to capture and edit screen video with audio. This is an ongoing feature we are still refining. Unfortunately in the process we caused some captions to wrap the text creating extra lines. We made a changes that came after we shipped Camtasia 2019 to improve some areas of captioning with ADA in mind. This was an issue depending on what TechSmith product you used to create captions. It will calculate the font-size based on the published video size to try and make sure the font-size is roughly the same for all videos. Setting in Smart Player, Smart Player will ignore the font-size you use in Camtasia. I've been added to that support ticket, so I will be able to follow it as well as this thread. PS -Are you able to get into my support issue #953181 that started awhile back? I did request that. version 2019, 2020, and 2021? If so, why when I created a new project for short test using version 2019 did the captioning display correctly as 3 lines long, ADA compliant like my original project? So then is your suggestion a temporary ‘workaround’? Is this change in the player for all versions now, i.e. In other words, I can’t see whether the captioning displays correctly as 3 lines, ADA compliant until after my project is published? Here's what it looked like: However, what does it do to the font size? In my tscproj I changed the caption font size to 50 (from default of size 53, ADA compliant) and appears after publishing to make the font size alot smaller. I did try your suggestion and it appears that the captioning displays 3 lines, left justified. So will copy/paste my previous email replies that you never saw (no wonder you never commented).įrom 11/18 12:31: Thanks Ben for clarifying. I replied to your email post and then just now saw at the bottom in light grey font the warning not to reply in there. No, I wasn't referring to the open support ticket. Open up your Camtasia production folder. If you are self hosting your production, we do have an option in the TechSmith Smart Player that turns on an internal version of ADA captions and ignores Camtasia formatting. Our goal is not to break existing content, but captioning has been a tricky feature to sync up between all our products and services. Because of this you may see differences between when you publish your video because it pulled down a newer version. ![]() The latest version of Camtasia also has the option if you are self hosting a production (which includes SCORM content) to always uses the newest version of the TechSmith Smart Player automatically. The one thing to know is since Camtasia 2019, the TechSmith Smart Player is updated to the newest version every time you publish your project. Could you update your support ticket to ask to loop me into it so I can take a look? It sounds like something changed in how the caption data is being written in your production. The words switching lines in your captions sounds odd to me. This is something that we are aware of and are trying to remedy in the future. I'm sorry you are dealing with these differences between how Camtasia is representing the captions in the editor vs how they are being displayed in the production using the TechSmith Smart Player.
